Dual Use Garden Room in Wilmslow

We were recommended to our next clients who were looking to build a dual use room in the grounds of their large family home.

Sociable people, they were used to hosting large gatherings at their family home but wanted to be able to extend their parties into their beautiful, but under-used, south facing garden. They also wanted somewhere they could house their home gym equipment, freeing up valuable space within in the house itself.

They came to view our display buildings at our Sandbach showroom and loved what they saw. They felt re-assured to be dealing with a well-established and reputable company, and so we set to work.

A site meeting was arranged to visit their home to discuss the best possible location for the building, taking into consideration access from the house, the view of the room from the house, views from the room over the gardens etc, and other factors such as the position of the sun at certain times of the day.  All important as they can all impact the overall enjoyment of the room.

Once a final position was selected, we were able to start on the design of the building. Having liked the proportions of the larger room at the showroom, our customers wanted to replicate that, with a few design extras.

As part of the bespoke package, CGI images were mocked-up to help our customer visualise the look and feel of the room as both a home gym and as an entertaining space within their garden.

To tie in with the style of the house we modified some of our standard design features.

The canopy was extended to 3 sides of the room and the fascia was clad in black.

Our usual high-grade cedar cladding was off-set with black upstands, which along with the black doors and windows and black up/down lights created a very dramatic impact in the garden.

The finished room size was 7m x 4m featuring 3m wide bifold doors plus additional full length portrait windows. The ceiling height was increased creating a more spacious feel.

With a high specification plastered finish, electrics were installed to the customer’s requirements, incorporating spotlights and sockets and the room was completed with our standard Quick Step Impressive Ultra laminate flooring.

The addition of a sleek air conditioning system helps moderate the temperature in the room, ensuring it is cool when being used as a gym and a comfortable temperature when used for entertaining.

Once the building was complete, we worked with the landscapers to finish off the outside area and show off the room at it’s best.

And what a room it is! In its beautiful surroundings, set off by the external landscaping, the completed building is a masterpiece ready for it’s multi-use future.
